It's All in Your Head
It’s All In Your Head Devotionals
These prayers and spiritual practices are not just for a day, but for a lifetime everyday. They are to be used from our heart to Jesus based on the Bible for full power.
Recognizing Spiritual Blindness (Day 1)
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 - But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Reflection: Consider how the 'god of this world' (Satan) influences perceptions and beliefs. Reflect on instances where personal bias or societal norms has blinded you to the truth of the Gospel and other truths in the Bible. How can you seek clarity and truth in your spiritual walk?
Prayer: Jesus, I acknowledge that at times my vision has been and still is clouded by the influences of the world in areas of my life. I confess that I have allowed the deceptions of the 'god of this world' (Satan) to obscure Your truth in parts of my heart and mind. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, and let Your light shine in. Help me to remove worldly influences and desires from my heart so I am not blinded. Enable me to recognize and utilize Your truth amidst the worldly noise of this life. Help me to be faithful in prayer and reading my Bible everyday In Your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
The Root of Actions (Day 2)
Matthew 15:19-20 - For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Reflection: Examine your thoughts/feelings and how they might lead to actions that are not in alignment with Christ's teachings. Commit this day to practice discerning by the Holy Spirit, actively filtering your thoughts/emotions. Repent of and tell to leave all ungodly thoughts/emotions producing actions that go against God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before You to seek purity in my innermost thoughts. I understand that my actions are a reflection of what takes root in my heart. Help me to weed out Satan’s thoughts/emotions of harm, malice, envy, and impurity, and plant your seeds of Agape love, faith, peace, compassion, and forgiveness in their place just like your Word states in Galatians 5:22,23. May my actions be a testament to the work You are doing within me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
The Power of Words (Day 3)
Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Reflection: Today, pay attention to your words. Are they life-giving or destructive? Challenge yourself to use your tongue to encourage, build up, and speak truth in love.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, I recognize that my tongue holds the power of life and death. Today, I ask for Your wisdom and self-control to guide me to use my words for uplifting, healing, and glorifying Your name. May I be a vessel for Your love through my speech, bringing encouragement to the brokenhearted and speaking truth where there is deception. Guide my words to be a source of life. In Your name, Jesus, I pray this, Amen.
Capturing Thoughts (Day 4)
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Reflection: Engage in spiritual warfare through prayer, targeting the strongholds in your mind. Practice 'taking captive every thought/emotion’ and submit your mental battles to Christ.
Prayer: My Lord and savior, Jesus, I am in a constant battle with thoughts and emotions that try to rise above Your truth. I ask for Your strength to take captive every thought/emotion and make it obedient to You. Help me to demolish the strongholds that challenge my faith and to replace them with the knowledge of You. Teach me to rely on Your might, not my own, in this spiritual warfare. In Your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Spiritual warfare: Do this next part in a place out loud. Call out loud every thought in your mind and every emotion in your heart not of Jesus. Repent of each one and renounce each one. In authority and faith, tell each one to leave you, in Jesus name.
Transformation Through Renewal (Day 5)
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Reflection: Focus on personal transformation by renewing your mind. Consider areas in your life that need change and envision how aligning your thoughts with God's will can transform those areas.
Prayer: The Almighty, Jesus, I desire to be transformed by the renewing of my mind, to discern Your good, pleasing, and perfect will. Break down the patterns of this world that I have molded to and reshape my thoughts to align with Your Word. Give me the resolve to change and to embrace the new creation You have made me to be. In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
Focusing on the Lovely (Day 6)
Philippians 4:4-8
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Reflection: Reflect on the true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy things in your life. Engage in an exercise of gratitude, preparing your heart for Sunday's message.
Prayer: My perfect, Jesus, as I prepare for the coming of Your day, I set my mind on the lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy blessings You have put in my life. I thank You for these blessings You've given me, and I choose to dwell on these gifts. Fill my mind with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, keeping my heart and mind secure in Christ Jesus. For it is in Your precious name I pray, Jesus, Amen.
