Numbers 20 Summary Devotional and Prayer

Read Numbers chapter 20

Numbers 20 tells the story of a hard time for the Israelites while they were traveling through the wilderness. They ran out of water and complained to Moses and Aaron.

So God told Moses to speak to a rock so that water would come out, but Moses got angry with the people and hit the rock instead. He was angry from all the people complaining and accusing him. Water still came out even though Moses didn’t follow God’s instructions in his anger, but because Moses disobeyed God, he wasn’t allowed to enter the special land God promised them.

The chapter also mentions the deaths of Miriam and Aaron, two important leaders. This story teaches us that even when things are tough, it’s important to listen to God and follow His instructions without falling into anger.

In my own life, I have dealt with a lot of spirits of anger. It destroyed my life. I have been delivered from a lot. I’m not even the same person. I have also had to crucify the flesh that wants to lash out and speak harshly. God is till delivering me and helping me to remove all anger. You can be set free today and start this journey towards peace in Jesus.

Questions:

Is there a part of your life where you’ve been doing things your own way maybe even out of anger instead of obeying God?

What steps can you take today to obey God and turn away from all anger?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to You today with a repentant heart, asking for Your forgiveness for the times I have let anger and frustration control me. I confess that I have tried to handle things my own way instead of trusting and obeying You. I repent for all words or actions that have dishonored You in anger, and I ask You to cleanse me and make me new.

Lord, help me to trust Your ways, even when I feel frustrated or tempted to think on and act out evil thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions. Give me peace and self-control as I take the steps to obey You fully.

I thank You for Your love, Your mercy, and the freedom You bring through Jesus Christ. I stand on Your promises and commit to walking in obedience to You. I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Right now, I renounce and bind the spirit of anger and rebellion that has taken hold in my life. I refuse to allow these spirits and sinful actions to have any power over me, in the name of Jesus. I declare that I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. All generational anger leave me now. My life is going to be filled with the fruit of the Spirit and agape love. I declare and proclaim this in Jesus’ name.
